A friend who is far away is sometimes much nearer than one who is at hand. Is not the mountain far more awe-inspiring and more clearly visible to one passing through the valley than to those who inhabit the mountain?

Advance, and never halt, for advancing is perfection. Advance and do not fear the thorns in the path, for they draw only corrupt blood.

All that spirits desire, spirits attain.

And ever has it been known that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.

And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.

Art is a step from what is obvious and well-known toward what is arcane and concealed.

Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Coming generations will learn equality from poverty, and love from woes.

Death most resembles a prophet who is without honor in his own land or a poet who is a stranger among his people.

Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.

Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.

Faith is a knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof.

Faith is an oasis in the heart which will never be reached by the caravan of thinking.

For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

Generosity is not giving me that which I need more than you do, but it is giving me that which you need more than I do.

Hallow the body as a temple to comeliness and sanctify the heart as a sacrifice to love; love recompenses the adorers.

I existed from all eternity and, behold, I am here; and I shall exist till the end of time, for my being has no end.

I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet, strange, I am ungrateful to those teachers.

Exaggeration is truth that has lost its temper.

I love you when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your temple, pray in your church. For you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the spirit.

A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely more than much knowledge that is idle.

I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires.

I wash my hands of those who imagine chattering to be knowledge, silence to be ignorance, and affection to be art.

If my survival caused another to perish, then death would be sweeter and more beloved.

If the grandfather of the grandfather of Jesus had known what was hidden within him, he would have stood humble and awe-struck before his soul.

If the other person injures you, you may forget the injury; but if you injure him you will always remember.

All our words are but crumbs that fall down from the feast of the mind.
If you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work.

If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. And if they don’t, they never were.

If you reveal your secrets to the wind, you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees.

If your heart is a volcano, how shall you expect flowers to bloom?

In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children.

Knowledge cultivates your seeds and does not sow in your seeds.

Knowledge of the self is the mother of all knowledge. So it is incumbent on me to know my self, to know it completely, to know its minutiae, its characteristics, its subtleties, and its very atoms.

Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit.

Love and doubt have never been on speaking terms.

Love is trembling happiness.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Love possesses not nor will it be possessed, for love is sufficient unto love.

Love… it surrounds every being and extends slowly to embrace all that shall be.

Many a doctrine is like a window pane. We see truth through it but it divides us from truth.

March on. Do not tarry. To go forward is to move toward perfection. March on, and fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on life’s path.

Most people who ask for advice from others have already resolved to act as it pleases them.

Much of your pain is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.

Knowledge of the self is the mother of all knowledge. So it is incumbent on me to know my self, to know it completely, to know its minutiae, its characteristics, its subtleties, and its very atoms.
No man can reveal to you nothing but that which already lies half-asleep in the dawning of your knowledge.

Nor shall derision prove powerful against those who listen to humanity or those who follow in the footsteps of divinity, for they shall live forever. Forever.

Of life’s two chief prizes, beauty and truth, I found the first in a loving heart and the second in a laborer’s hand.

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.

Pain and foolishness lead to great bliss and complete knowledge, for Eternal Wisdom created nothing under the sun in vain.

Perplexity is the beginning of knowledge.

Poetry is a deal of joy and pain and wonder, with a dash of the dictionary.

Poverty is a veil that obscures the face of greatness. An appeal is a mask covering the face of tribulation.

Sadness is but a wall between two gardens.

Safeguarding the rights of others is the most noble and beautiful end of a human being.

Say not, ‘I have found the truth,’ but rather, ‘I have found a truth.’

The eye of a human being is a microscope, which makes the world seem bigger than it really is.

The just is close to the people’s heart, but the merciful is close to the heart of God.

The lust for comfort, that stealthy thing that enters the house a guest, and then becomes a host, and then a master.

The most pitiful among men is he who turns his dreams into silver and gold.

The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply.

The person you consider ignorant and insignificant is the one who came from God, that he might learn bliss from grief and knowledge from gloom.

The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.

There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward.

They consider me to have sharp and penetrating vision because I see them through the mesh of a sieve.

Time has been transformed, and we have changed; it has advanced and set us in motion; it has unveiled its face, inspiring us with bewilderment and exhilaration.

To be able to look back upon ones life in satisfaction, is to live twice.

To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already achieved, but at what he aspires to.

Trust in dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.

Truth is a deep kindness that teaches us to be content in our everyday life and share with the people the same happiness.

We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them.

What difference is there between us, save a restless dream that follows my soul but fears to come near you?

When love beckons to you, follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

When we turn to one another for counsel we reduce the number of our enemies.

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

When you work you are a flute through whose heart the whispering of the hours turns to music. Which of you would be a reed, dumb and silent, when all else sings together in unison?

Where is the justice of political power if it executes the murderer and jails the plunderer, and then itself marches upon neighboring lands, killing thousands and pillaging the very hills?

Wisdom ceases to be wisdom when it becomes too proud to weep, too grave to laugh, and too selfish to seek other than itself.

Wisdom stands at the turn in the road and calls upon us publicly, but we consider it false and despise its adherents.

Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.

Is Jesus Really God?

Would that I were a dry well, and that the people tossed stones into me, for that would be easier than to be a spring of flowing water that the thirsty pass by, and from which they avoid drinking.

Yesterday is but today’s memory, and tomorrow is today’s dream.

Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our necks before emperors. But today we kneel only to truth, follow only beauty, and obey only love.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.

You have your ideology and I have mine.

You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might also pray in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance.

Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They came through you but not from you and though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

Your daily life is your temple and your religion. When you enter into it take with you your all.

Your friend is your needs answered.

“From the beginning while we were engaged in these issues, I said in interviews with those who came from abroad, even in Najaf or Paris or among my personal words, I
have always said that clerics have an occupation which is more important than these executive jobs, and should Islam become victorious, clerics would dedicate
themselves to their own occupation. But as we went on with the revolution, we found out that if we tell all clerics to go after their mosques, this country would fall
into the throat of America and Soviet Union. We experienced and saw, those who took the lead but were not clerics, even though some of them were religious people, our
revolutionary path was not according to their taste, therefore… we temporarily deviate from our original word until this country could be administered by those other
than clerics, then clerics will go back to their preach and their own position and they will leave executive matters to others who work for Islam.

“If the religious leaders have influence, they will not permit girls and boys to wrestle together, as recently happened in Shiraz.”

“The people will not rest until the Pahlavi rule has been swept away and all traces of tyranny have disappeared. As long as the Shah’s satanic power prevails, not a single true representative of the people can possibly be elected.”

“With people’s revolutionary rage, the king will be ousted and a democratic state, Islamic Republic, will be established.”

“Women are free in the Islamic Republic in the selection of their activities and their future and their clothing.”

“In the Islamic Republic the rights of the religious minorities are respectfully regarded.”

“Personal desire, age, and my health do not allow me to personally have a role in running the country after the fall of the current system.”

“In Iran’s future Islamic system everyone can express their opinion, and the Islamic government will respond to logic with logic.”

“In the Islamic government all people have complete freedom to have any kind of opinion.”

“After the Shah’s departure from Iran, I will not become a president nor accept any other leadership role. Just like before, I limit my activities only to guiding and

directing the people.”

“Before the revolution I thought there are appropriate individuals who would do the job according to Islam, therefore I repeatedly said that clerics would go after

their own job. Then I saw that most of them were inappropriate individuals and I found out that what I said was not true, so I came and clearly announced that I was wrong.”

“Ayatollah, would you be so kind as to tell us how you feel about being back in Iran?
Nothing. I don’t feel anything.”

“These people are trying to bring back the regime of the late Shah or another regime. I will strike with my fists at the mouths of this government. From now on it is I who will name the government.”

“Don’t listen to those who speak of democracy. They all are against Islam. They want to take the nation away from its mission. We will break all the poison pens of

those who speak of nationalism, democracy, and such things.”

“Islamic state means a state based on justice and democracy and structured upon Islamic rules and laws.”

“In Islam, democracy is included and people are free in Islam, both in expressing their opinions and their actions, until there is no conspiracy and they don’t bring

up ideas which would deviate Iranian generation.”

“If one permits an infidel to continue in his role as a corrupter of the earth, the infidel’s moral suffering will be all the worse. If one kills the infidel, and this

stops him from perpetrating his misdeeds, his death will be a blessing to him.”

“Happy are those who have departed through martyrdom. Unhappy am I that I still survive.… Taking this decision is more deadly than drinking from a poisoned chalice. I

submitted myself to Allah’s will and took this drink for His satisfaction.”

“…the author of The Satanic Verses book which is against Islam, the Prophet and the Qu’ran, and all involved in its publication who were aware of its content, are

sentenced to death. I call on all zealous Muslims to execute them wherever they find them, so that no one will dare to insult the Islamic sanctions. Whoever is killed

on this path will be regarded as a martyr, God willing.”

“This regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.”

“When anyone studies a little or pays a little attention to the rules of Islamic government, Islamic politics, Islamic society and Islamic economy he will realize that

Islam is a very political religion. Anyone who will say that religion is separate from politics is a fool; he does not know Islam or politics.”

“Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.”

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.”

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”

“As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot.”

“Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears.”

“I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?”

“The more I see, the less I know for sure.”

“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

“If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there’d be peace.”

“There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be…”

“Living is Easy with Eyes Closed.”

“If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliche that must have been left behind in the 60s, that’s a problem. Peace and love are eternal.”

“One thing you can’t hide – is when you’re crippled inside.”

“Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.”

“I’m not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything. I’ve always been a freak. So I’ve been a freak all my life and I have to live with that, you know. I’m one of those people.”

“When you’re drowning you don’t think, I would be incredibly pleased if someone would notice I’m drowning and come and rescue me. You just scream.”

“For those of you in the cheap seats I’d like ya to clap your hands to this one; the rest of you can just rattle your jewelry!”

“I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It’s just that the translations have gone wrong.”

“Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns it calls me on and on across the universe.”

“If being an egomaniac means I believe in what I do and in my art or music, then in that respect you can call me that… I believe in what I do, and I’ll say it.”

“God is a concept by which we measure our pain.”

“War is over … If you want it.”

“Love is like a flower-you’ve got to let it grow.”

“Nothing is real.”

“Love is a promise, love is a souvenir, once given never forgotten, never let it disappear.”

“How can I go forward when I don’t know which way I’m facing?”

“I get by with a little help from my friends.”

“Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind,
Possessing and caressing me.
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Sounds of laughter shades of love are
Ringing through my open ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a
Million suns, and calls me on and on
Across the universe”

“It’s weird not to be weird.”

“Whatever gets you through the night”

“I’m not afraid of death because I don’t believe in it.
It’s just getting out of one car, and into another”

“Everything is clearer when you’re in love.”

“Music is everybody’s business. It’s only the publishers who think people own it”

“We all shine on…like the moon and the stars and the sun…we all shine on…come on and on and on…”

“Imagine all of us living in peace, it’s too beautiful to just be a dream.”

“There are places I’ll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all”

“Make your own dream.

That’s what the great masters and mistresses have been saying ever since time began. They can point the way, leave signposts and little instructions in various books that are now called holy and worshipped for the cover of the book and not for what it says, but the instructions are all there for all to see, have always been and always will be.

There’s nothing new under the sun. All the roads lead to Rome. And people cannot provide it for you. I can’t wake you up. You can wake you up. I can’t cure you. You can cure you.”

“I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.”

“My role in society, or any artist’s or poet’s role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all.”

“Remember to let her into your heart.”

“The thing the sixties did was to show us the possibilities and the responsibility that we all had. It wasn’t the answer. It just gave us a glimpse of the possibility.”

“Part of me suspects that I’m a loser, and the other part of me thinks I’m God Almighty.”

“Time wounds all heels.”

“Love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep on watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.”

“there’s nothing you can do that can’t be done…..”

“Please don’t spoil my day; I’m miles away and, after all, I’m only sleeping.”

“I was the walrus, but now I am John…and so my friends, you’ll just have to carry on. The dream is over.”

“The more real you get the more unreal the world gets. ”

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it–always.”

“Seven Deadly Sins

Wealth without work
Pleasure without conscience
Science without humanity
Knowledge without character
Politics without principle
Commerce without morality
Worship without sacrifice.”

“Where there is love there is life.”

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.”

“Hate the sin, love the sinner.”

“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”

“Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one’s weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.”

“A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.”

“To give pleasure to a single heart by a single act is better than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.”

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

“The future depends on what you do today.”

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”

“Let the first act of every morning be to make the following resolve for the day:

- I shall not fear anyone on Earth.
- I shall fear only God.
- I shall not bear ill will toward anyone.
- I shall not submit to injustice from anyone.
- I shall conquer untruth by truth. And in resisting untruth, I shall put up with all suffering.”

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

“Truth never damages a cause that is just.”

“It is easy enough to be friendly to one’s friends. But to befriend the one who regards himself as your enemy is the quintessence of true religion. The other is mere business.”

“Whenever you are confronted with an opponent. Conquer him with love.”

“It is unwise to be too sure of one’s own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.”

“It’s the action, not the fruit of the action, that’s important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there’ll be any fruit. But that doesn’t mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.”

“People make their own history, but not in conditions of their own making.”
― Karl Marx, The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte

“Both for the production on a mass scale of this communist consciousness, and for the success of the cause itself, the alteration of men on a mass scale is necessary,

an alteration which can only take place in a practical movement, a revolution; this revolution is necessary, therefore, not only because the ruling class cannot be

overthrown in any other way, but also because the class overthrowing it can only in a revolution succeed in ridding itself of all the muck of ages and become fitted to

found society anew.”

“Moments are the elements of profit”

“Sejarah berulang: pertama sebagai tragedi, kemudian sebagai komedi.”

“Society does not consist of individuals, but expresses the sum of interrelations, the relations within which these individuals stand.”

“The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions.”

“The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their

condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of

which religion is the halo.”

“As individuals express their life, so they are.”

“‎”The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class shall represent and repress them in parliament!”

“Last words are for people who haven’t said anything in life”

“A commodity appears at first sight an extremely obvious, trivial thing. But its analysis brings out that it is a very strange thing, abounding in metaphysical

subtleties and theological niceties.”

“Religion is the impotence of the human mind to deal with occurrences it cannot understand.”

“Ser radical é tomar as coisas pela raiz. Mas, para o homem, a raiz é o próprio homem.”

“Philosophers have tried to describe the world — the point is to change it,”

“Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already,

given and transmitted from the past”

“Christ represents originally: 1) men before God; 2) God for men; 3) men to man.

Similarly, money represents originally, in accordance with the idea of money: 1) private property for private property; 2) society for private property; 3) private

property for society.

But Christ is alienated God and alienated man. God has value only insofar as he represents Christ, and man has value only insofar as he represents Christ. It is the

same with money.”

“Religion is the sign of the oppressed… It is the opium of the people.”

senin, karl
manchester, 21 haziran, 1865”

“If constructing the future and settling everything for all times are not our affair, it is all the more clear what we have to accomplish at present: I am referring to

ruthless criticism of all that exists, ruthless both in the sense of not being afraid of the results it arrives at and in the sense of being just as little afraid of

conflict with the powers that be.”

“…it is all the more clear what we have to accomplish at present: I am referring to ruthless criticism of all that exists, ruthless both in the sense of not being

afraid of the results it arrives at and in the sense of being just as little afraid of conflict with the powers that be.”

“The proletarians have nothing to loose but their chains. They have a world to win.”

“The less you eat, drink and read books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorize, sing, paint, fence,

etc., the more you save-the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor dust will devour-your capital. The less you are, the more you have; the less you

express your own life, the greater is your alienated life-the greater is the store of your estranged being.”

“In order to arouse sympathy, the aristocracy was obliged to lose sight, apparently, of its own interests, and to formulate its indictment against the bourgeoisie in

the interest of the exploited working class alone. Thus, the aristocracy took their revenge by singing lampoons on their new masters and whispering in his ears

sinister prophesies of coming catastrophe.”

“You must be aware that the reward for labour, and quantity of labour, are quite disparate things.”

“Philosophy has only interpreted the world in a variety of ways. The point, however, is to change it.”

“There is no royal road to science, and only those who do not dread the fatiguing climb of its steep paths have a chance of gaining its luminous summits. (Preface to

the French edition).”

“Last words are for fools who haven’t said enough.”

“Language is as old as consciousness, language is practical, real consciousness that exists for other men as well, and only therefore does it also exist for me;

language, like consciousness, only arises from the need, the necessity, of intercourse with other men.”

“All working men of countries unite. ”

“Die Philosophen haben die Welt nur verschieden interpretiert; es kömmt drauf an, sie zu verändern”

“Религията е опиум за народа. Тя е едно сърце в един безсърдечен свя”

“В наше време човековъдството много изостава от животновъдството”

“Religion is, indeed, the self-consciousness and self-esteem of man who has either not yet won through to himself, or has already lost himself again. But man is no

abstract being squatting outside the world. Man is the world of man—state, society. This state and this society produce religion, which is an inverted consciousness of

the world, because they are an inverted world. Religion is the general theory of this world, its encyclopedic compendium, its logic in popular form, its spiritual

point d’honneur, its enthusiasm, its moral sanction, its solemn complement, and its universal basis of consolation and justification. It is the fantastic realization

of the human essence since the human essence has not acquired any true reality. The struggle against religion is, therefore, indirectly the struggle against that world

whose spiritual aroma is religion. Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is

the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as

the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to

give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo”

“Jaminan kemerdekaan bangsa ialah pada kemerdekaan jiwa.”

“Criticism has plucked the imaginary flowers on the chain not in order that man shall continue to bear that chain without fantasy or consolation, but so that he shall

throw off the chain and pluck the living flower.”

“In its rational form [dialectic] is a scandal and abomination to bourgeoisdom and its doctrinaire professors, because it includes in its comprehension and affirmative

recognition of the existing state of things, at the same time also, the recognition of the negation of that state, of its inevitable breaking up; because it regards

every historically developed social form as in fluid movement, and therefore takes into account its transient nature not less than its momentary existence because it

lets nothing impose upon it, and is in its essence critical and revolutionary.”

“Nous ne nous présentons pas au monde en doctrinaires avec un nouveau principe en lui disant: voici la vérité, c’est ici qu’il faut tomber à genoux. Des principes du

monde nous tirons pour le monde des principes nouveaux.”

“Man makes his own history, but he does not make it out of the whole cloth; he does not make it out of conditions chosen by himself, but out of such as he finds close

at hand.”

“The task is not just to understand the world but to change it.”

“Communism is for us not a state of affairs which is to be established, an ideal to which reality [will] have to adjust itself. We call communism the real movement

which abolishes the present state of things. The conditions of this movement result from the premises now in existence.”
“Workers be unite can’t loose anything but their chain”

“Merely quantitative differences, beyond a certain point, pass into qualitative changes.”

“Since the mass of the employed living labour is continually on the decline as compared to the mass of materialised labour set in motion by it, i.e., to the

productively consumed means of production, it follows that the portion of living labour, unpaid and congealed in surplus-value, must also be continually on the

decrease compared to the amount of value represented by the invested total capital. Since the ratio of the mass of surplus-value to the value of the invested total

capital forms the rate of profit, this rate must constantly fall.”

“Private property has made us so stupid and one-sided that an object is only ours when we have it.”

“Bourgeois society ought long ago to have gone to the dogs through sheer idleness; for those of its members who work, acquire nothing, and those who acquire anything,

do not work.”

“It has drowned the most heavenly ecstasies of religious fervour, of chivalrous enthusiasm, of Philistine sentimentalism, in the icy water of egotistical calculation.

It has resolved personal worth into exchange value, and in place of numberless indefeasible chartered freedoms, it has set up that single, unconscionable freedom –

free trade. In one word, for exploitation, veiled by religious and political illusions, it has substituted naked, shameless, direct, brutal exploitation.”

“Religion is opium for the people.”

“My object in life is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.”

“All mysteries which lead theory to mysticism find their rational solution in human practice and in the comprehension of this practice.”

“Последните думи са за глупаците, които не са казали достатъчно приживе”
― Karl Marx

“Such a crises occurs only where the ever-lengthening chain of payments,
and an artificial system of settling them, has been fully
developed. Whenever there is a general and extensive disturbance
of this mechanism, no matter what its cause, money becomes
suddenly and immediately transformed from its merely ideal shape
of money of account into hard cash. Profane commodities can no
longer replace it. The use-value of commodities becomes
valueless, and their value vanishes in the presence of its own
independent form. On the eve of the crisis, the bourgeois, with
the self-sufficiency that springs from intoxicating prosperity,
declares money to be a vain imagination. Commodities alone are
money. But now the cry is everywhere that money alone is a
commodity! As the hart pants after fresh water, so pants his soul
after money, the only wealth.”

“The less you eat, drink, and buy books, the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence,

etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moth nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own

life, the more you have, i.e., the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being.”

“The true law of economics is chance, and we learned people arbitrarily seize on a few moments and establish them as laws.”

“Criticism has plucked the imaginary flowers on the chain not in order that man shall continue to bear that chain without fantasy or consolation, but so that he shall

throw off the chain and pluck the living flower. The criticism of religion disillusions man, so that he will think, act, and fashion his reality like a man who has

discarded his illusions and regained his senses, so that he will move around himself as his own true Sun. Religion is only the illusory Sun which revolves around man

as long as he does not revolve around himself.”

Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

“I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.”

“A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.”

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”

“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.”

“Lead from the back — and let others believe they are in front.”

“I am not a saint, unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying.”

“The greatest glory in living
lies not in never falling,
but in rising every time we fall.”

“Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.”

“There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

“I have walked that long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom come responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not ended.”

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”
― Nelson Mandela

“(…) when a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw.”

“As I have said, the first thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself… Great peacemakers are all people of integrity, of honesty, but humility.”

“One of the things I learned when I was negotiating was that until I changed myself, I could not change others.”

“Where you stand depends on where you sit.”

“Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”

“Courage is not the absence of fear — it s inspiring others to move beyond it.”

“I am the captain of my soul.”

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

“It is said that no one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones.”

“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.”

“Appearances matter — and remember to smile.”

“ As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.”

“Nothing is black or white.”

“As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.”

“A leader. . .is like a shepherd. He stays behind the flock, letting the most nimble go out ahead, whereupon the others follow, not realizing that all along they are being directed from behind.”

“In my country we go to prison first and then become President. ”

“We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”

“Quitting is leading too.”

“Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great, you can be that generation”

“During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”

“Freedom is indivisible; the chains on any one of my people were the chains on all of them, the chains on all of my people were the chains on me.”

“When the water starts boiling it is foolish to turn off the heat.”

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”

“I had no epiphany, no singular revelation, no moment of truth, but a steady accumulation of a thousand slights, a thousand indignities and a thousand unremembered moments produced in me an anger, a rebelliousness, a desire to fight the system that imprisoned my people. There was no particular day on which I said, Henceforth I will devote myself to the liberation of my people; instead, I simply found myself doing so, and could not do otherwise.”

“There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires”

“You will achieve more in this world through acts of mercy than you will through acts of retribution.”

“Know your enemy — and learn about his favorite sport.”

“Let there be justice for all. Let there be peace for all. Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all. Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfill themselves.”

“One cannot be prepared for something while secretly believing it will not happen.”

“A winner is a dreamer who never gives up”

“Keep your friends close — and your rivals even closer.”

“We must use time creatively, and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right.”

“The brave man is not the one who has no fears, he is the one who triumphs over his fears.”

“It is not where you start but how high you aim that matters for success.”

“Lead from the front — but don t leave your base behind.”

“I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself.”

“Your playing small does not serve the world. Who are you not to be great?”

“A good head & a good heart are always a formidable combination”

“Having a grievance or a resentment is like drinking poison and thinking it will kill your enemy.”

“Only free men can negotiate, prisoners can’t enter in contracts”

“I have never cared very much for personal prizes. A person does not become a freedom fighter in the hope of winning awards.”

“No single person can liberate a country. You can only liberate a country if you act as a collective.”

“Without language, one cannot talk to people and understand them; one cannot share their hopes and aspirations, grasp their history, appreciate their poetry, or savor their songs.”

“I AM THE MASTER OF MY FATE AND THE CAPTAIN OF MY DESTINY.”

“It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.”

“i love playing and chatting with children…feeding and putting them to bed with a little story, and being away from the family has troubled me throughout my…life. i like relaxing at the house, reading quietly, taking in the sweet smell that comes from the pots, sitting around a table with the family and taking out my wife and children. when you can no longer enjoy these simple pleasures something valuable is taken away from your life and you feel it in your daily work.”

“It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.”

“our biggest fear is not that we are inadequate, our biggest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our lightness not our darkness that frightens us~”

“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

“Your victory has demonstrated that no person anywhere in the world should not dare to dream of wanting to change the world for a better place.”

“It is most unusual to return to a place that has changed in ways you yourself have altered.”

“The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

“I could not imagine that the future I was walking toward could compare in any way to the past that I was leaving behind.”

“A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.”

“Success in politics demands that you must take your people into confidence about your views and state them very clearly, very politely, very calmly, but nevertheless, state them openly.”

“Money wont create success, the fredom to make it will”

“He knew when to compromise. Yet he never compromised his principles. He was a militant. Yet a militant who knew how to plan, assess concrete situations and emerge with rational solutions to problems.”

“Tread softly,
Brathe peacefully,
Laugh hysterically.”

“Freedom is indivisible the chains on any one of my people were the chains on all of them the chains on all of my people were the chains on me. Long Walk to Freedom: The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela : With Connections”

“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb”

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.”

“I shall stick to our vow: never, never under any circumstances, to say anything unbecoming of the other…The trouble, of course, is that most successful men are prone to some form of vanity. There comes a stage in their lives when they consider it permissible to be egotistic and to brag to the public at large about their unique achievements.”

“Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great…”

“A good head and a great heart are always a formidable combination.”

“There are few misfortunes in this world that you cannot turn into a personal trimuph if you have the iron will and the neccessary skill.”

“Peace is the greatest weapon for development that any person can have.”

“If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner. -Nelson Mandela, activist, South African president, Nobel Peace Prize (b. 1918)”

“We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.”

“Kami menggoyangkan langit, menggempakan darat, dan menggelorakan samudera agar tidak jadi bangsa yang hidup hanya dari 2 ½ sen sehari. Bangsa yang kerja keras, bukan bangsa tempe, bukan bangsa kuli. Bangsa yang rela menderita demi pembelian cita-cita”

“This country, the Republic of Indonesia, does not belong to any group, nor to any religion, nor to any ethnic group, nor to any group with customs and traditions, but the property of all of us from Sabang to Merauke!”

“Apa yang sudah disepakati secara politik, jangan pernah diperdebatkan secara estetis.”

“Bebek berjalan berbondong-bondong, akan tetapi burung elang terbang sendirian.”
Indonesia Menggugat: Pidato Pembelaan Bung Karno di Muka Hakim Kolonial

“I hate imperialism. I detest colonialism. And I fear the consequences of their last bitter struggle for life. We are determined, that our nation, and the world as a whole, shall not be the play thing of one small corner of the world”

“l’exploitation de l’home par ‘ihomme”

“Untuk membangun suatu Negara yang Demokratie, maka satu
ekonomi yang Merdeka harus dibangun. Tanpa ekonomi yang
Merdeka, tak mungkin kita mencapai kemerdekaan, tak mungkin kita
tetap hidup”

“Gemah ripah loh jinawi, tata tentram kerta raharja, para kawula iyeg
rumagang ing gawe, tebih saking laku cengengilan adoh saking juti.
Wong kang lumaku dagang, rinten dalu tan wonten pedote, labet
saking tan wonten sansayangi margi. Subur kang sarwa tinandur,
murah kang sarwa tinuku. Bebek ayam raja kaya enjang medal ing
panggenan, sore bali ing kandange dewe-dewe. Ucapan-dalang dari
bapaknya-embahnya-buyutnya-canggahnya, warengnya-udeg-udegnyagantung
siwurnya.

Maha
Besarlah Tuhan yang membuat kita sadar kembali sebelum kasip.”

“Suatu bangsa hanyalah menjadi kuat kalau patriotismenya meliputi
patriotisme ekonomi.

dasar untuk mengumpulkan Funds and forces.
5. Ambisi daya cipta Bangsa Indonesia sangat tinggi di bidang politik
tinggi, di bidang sosial tinggi, di bidang kebudayaan tinggi, tentunya
juga di bidang ekonomi dean perdagangan.
6. Tradisi Bangsa lndonesia bukan tradisi, “tempe”.

“We want to establish a state, “all for, all”, neither for a single
individual nor for one group, whether it be a group of aristocracy or a
group of wealthy-but, “all for all”.

“Indonesia Merdeka hanyalah suatu jembatan walaupun jembatan emas

“Let the world change you and you can change the world”“Be realistic, demand the impossible!”

“Silence is argument carried out by other means.”

“I am not a liberator. Liberators do not exist. The people liberate themselves.”

“Every day People straighten up the hair, why not the heart?” ure of having something to live for unless we are willing to die for it.”

“I know you are here to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man.”

“And then many things became very clear… we learned perfectly that the life of a single human being is worth millions of times more than all the property of the richest man on earth.”

“I will fight with all the weapons within my reach rather than let myself be nailed to a cross or whatever.”

“There are no boundaries in this struggle to the death. We cannot be indifferent to what happens anywhere in the world, for a victory by any country over imperialism is our victory; just as any country’s defeat is a defeat for all of us.”

“HASTA LA VICTORIA SIEMPRE”

“There is no other definition of socialism valid for us than that of the abolition of the exploitation of man by man.”

“I knew that when the great guiding spirit cleaves humanity into two antagonistic halves, I will be with the people.”

“After graduation, due to special circumstances and perhaps also to my character, I began to travel throughout America, and I became acquainted with all of it. Except for Haiti and Santo Domingo, I have visited, to some extent, all the other Latin American countries. Because of the circumstances in which I traveled, first as a student and later as a doctor, I came into close contact with poverty, hunger and disease; with the inability to treat a child because of lack of money; with the stupefaction provoked by the continual hunger and punishment, to the point that a father can accept the loss of a son as an unimportant accident, as occurs often in the downtrodden classes of our American homeland. And I began to realize at that time that there were things that were almost as important to me as becoming famous for making a significant contribution to medical science: I wanted to help those people.”

“El revolucionario vedadero es guiado por gran sentimientos de amor.”

“The first duty of a revolutionary is to be educated.”

“I would rather die standing up to live life on my knees.”

“Wrapped in a police blanket, I watched the rain and smoked one black cigarette after another…”

“The revolution is made through human beings, but individuals must forge their revolutionary spirit day by day”

“…I also know – and this won’t alter the course of history or your personal view of me – that you will die with a clenched fist and a tense jaw, the epitome of hatred and struggle, because you are not a symbol (some inanimate example) but a genuine member of the society to be destroyed; the spirit of the beehive speaks through your mouth and motivates your actions. You are as useful as I am, but you are not aware of how useful your contribution is to the society that sacrifices you.”

“The walls of the educational system must come down. Education should not be a privilege, so the children of those who have money can study.”

“The revolution is not an apple that falls when ripe. You have to make it fall.”

“What do we leave behind when we cross each frontier? Each moment seems split in two: melancholy for what was left behind and the excitement of entering a new land.”

“Its tall chimneys throw up black smoke, impregnating everything with soot, and the miners’ faces as they traveled the streets were also imbued with that ancient melancholy of smoke, unifying everything with its grayish monotones, a perfect coupling with the gray mountain days.”

“Hay que endurecerse, pero sin perder la ternura jamás!”

“Dejeme decirie, a risego de parecer ridiculo, que el revolucionario verdadero
esta guiado por grandes sentimientos de amor.
Let me say,
at the risk of seeming ridiculous,
that the true revolutionary
is guided by great feelings of love.”

“The word that most perfectly describes the city of Cuzco is evocative. Intangible dust of another era settles on its streets, rising like the disturbed sediment of a muddy lake when you touch its bottom.”

“Todos los días la gente se arregla el cabello, ¿por qué no el corazón?”

“The spectacular landscape circling the fortress supplies an essential backdrop, inspiring dreamers to wander its ruins for the sake of it; North American tourists, bound down by their practical world view, are able to place those members of the disintegrating tribes they may have seen in their travels among these once-living walls, unaware of the moral distance separating them, since only the semi-indigenous spirit of the South American can grasp the subtle differences.”
“I knew that when the great guiding spirit cleaves humanity into two antagonistic halves, I would be with the people. I know this, I see it printed in the night sky that I, eclectic dissembler of doctrine and psychoanalyst of dogma, howling like one possessed, will assault the barricades or the trenches , will take my bloodstained weapon, and consumed with fury, slaughter any enemy who falls into my hands.”

“Better to die standing, than to live on your knees.”

“Above all, always be capable of feeling deeply any injustice committed against anyone, anywhere in the world.”

“This is the Cuzco asking you to pull on your armor and, mounted on the ample back of a powerful horse, cleave a path through the defenseless flesh of a naked Indian flock whose human wall collapses and disappears beneath the four hooves of the galloping beast.”

“And yet every so often, the heart of America, shuddering with indignation, sends a nervous spasm through the gentle back of the Andes, and tumultuous shock waves assault the surface of the land. Three times the cuppola of proud Santo Domingo has collapsed from on high to the rhythm of broken bones and its worn walls have opened and fallen too. But the foundations they rest on are unmoved, the great blocks of the Temple of the Sun exhibit their gray stone indifferently; however colossal the disaster befalling its oppressor, not one of its huge rocks shifts from its place.”

“The stars drew light across the night sky in that little mountain village, and the silence and the cold made the darkness vanish away. It was – I don’t know how to explain it – as if everything solid melted away into the ether, eliminating all individualtiy and absorbing us, rigid, into the immense darkness. Not a single cloud to lend perspective to the space blocked any portion of the starry sky.”

“I finally felt myself lifted definitively away on the winds of adventure toward worlds I envisaged would be stranger than they were, into situations I imagined would be much more normal than they turned out to be.”

“«Se tremes diante de qualquer injustiça, estejas onde for, então somos companheiros» ”

“Bumi memiliki musik bagi mereka yang mendengarkan.”

“O Romeo, Romeo, seni Romeo engkau mengapa?

(UU 4, Tema 1) “

“Apakah Anda menggigit ibu jari Anda pada kami, Pak?”
“Objek Seni adalah untuk memberikan nyawa-bentuk
